Our Story

When Cat moved to the United States from Brazil at 16, she realized how little the country knows of Brazilian culture. This was apparent at every family gathering when their American friends would come over and taste a caipirinha (or “caipi” for short) for the first time. A Caipirinha is a Brazilian cocktail made by muddling limes and sugar and topping it with Brazil’s national spirit, cachaça (pronounced kah-sha-sah). Through cachaça, her family shares a beacon of Brazilian culture to all who come through our home. She’s excited to share an important part of her culture with you through the finest cachaça Brazil has to offer.

Our Quality

In the United States, it’s difficult to find high quality, artisanal cachaça. In Brazil, you can drive through small towns in the mountains tasting local foods and their cachaça. On that journey you find the best cachaça is artisanally made in small batches with care.

Our artisanal cachaça is made with three simple ingredients – water, sugarcane, and yeast – no additives ever. It’s handcrafted in Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil by a family run operation that grows and harvests its own sugarcane in an organic and water neutral process. The cachaça is made in small batches and distilled in copper pot stills (aka cachaça alambique) to enhance the flavor and remove impurities. Each batch has subtle differences depending on that year’s harvest, offering you a one-of-a-kind experience.

Why the Capybara

There’s nothing more representative of Cat’s hometown, Curitiba, than the capybara. They live in the city’s main park, 5 minutes away from where I used to play after school. They lounge, sunbathe, and genuinely enjoy a chill life there. We imagined Capi, the Capybara, discovering sugarcane and inventing cachaça. By doing so, he transforms his friends into sophisticated party animals.

We hope you join our festa. Saúde!
